Today we are going to talk about how we should clean our gold jewelry in an effective way with the help of our friends from Laguarda.

We already know that jewelry can become one of the most valuable and important objects we have. Not only because we like the jewel itself, but because of the sentimental value to which most of them are tied. The clear example is wedding rings. Our engagement ring is a jewel that will accompany us every day, so it is very important that we devote special care to our jewels and that we have all the necessary information about what is the best way to treat them.

Gold is one of the toughest metals that exists. It does not affect the air, heat, humidity, or most solvents in addition to being also very resistant to corrosion and oxidation. This does not mean that you do not need care, since despite being very resistant it is also the most malleable precious metal.

It is important to know that contact with strong chemicals, such as chlorine or other cleaning products, can be very harmful to gold.

For very good care that we give our jewelry, it is impossible that we get them back to the perfect finish they have when leaving a jewelry store but it is possible to keep them so that they look almost perfect if we treat them well.

Ways to clean your gold jewelry

Products:

There are specific products to clean gold, but the truth is that you can do it easily at home without buying specific products. They are the case of soap and water.

Do not use bleach or any product that contains chlorine or chemicals under any circumstances as they could discolor your jewel.

The easiest way to clean our gold jewelry is by filling a water container with a few drops of liquid detergent or dishwasher and gently rubbing with a not very rigid toothbrush. But if your jewelry is dirtier than normal, we leave you three products that will be of great help.

-Baking soda

This product is a great solution to remove dirt from gold as it acts effervescently and manages to descale the stains.

Ideally, mix 3 tablespoons of baking soda with one of water. The result is a paste to which we will add a dash of vinegar. You can help yourself with a stick to clean your jewel. Finally rinse it with warm water and dry it with a piece of soft cloth to make it shine.

-Ammonia

Ammonia, even if it surprises you, is another of the ideal products to clean our gold jewelry. To do this you must mix 1 liter of water with a large spoonful of ammonia. It is best to introduce the mixture into a bowl and put the jewel in a few minutes. Finally rinse the jewel with plenty of water until there is no remaining ammonia and dry it with a soft cloth.

-Vinager or lemon

Vinegar and lemon are also great for cleaning our gold jewelry. The process is the same as with ammonia. If the jewel had a lot of dirt you can help it with a teaspoon of baking soda.

Each type of gold needs a different cleaning

White gold

Having a lighter color, dirt looks more and is somewhat more delicate. You should never immerse this type of gold in water, the mount could weaken and cause it to dismount over time. It is also not advisable to use warm water or rub too much.

The ideal way to clean your white gold jewelry is to apply a few drops of beer (always blonde) and gently rub it with a cloth or making bicarbonate paste but rinse it with a damp cloth.

Yellow gold

This gold is the toughest of all, so ideally you should do soap and water cleaning from time to time and if you see that there is a lot of dirt accumulated use bicarbonate, vinegar or ammonia.

Pink gold

Rose gold can be cleaned with neutral soap and a soft brush or, also with a toothbrush and toothpaste, always without granules as they could damage the jewel.
