The Harlem Globetrotters want to join the NBA

The Harlem Globetrotters have issued a statement and formally asked the NBA to include them in the league’s next expansion team.

The idea of the Globetrotters participating in the NBA has been around for a few years now. This idea seems to revolve around including two new franchises, bringing the total number of participants to 32. 

Although the Globetrotters have been a performance team known for their spectacular circus performances for decades, they initially participated in serious competition. In the first three years after their establishment in 1926, they lost only 32 of 398 games. The difficulty of finding level opponents led them to explore their version best known today, in which they combined basketball and comedy. 

However, in the years leading up to the establishment of the first American professional league, and in the early days when they couldn’t find black players to participate, they never stopped playing real games. As a result, the Globetrotters have become a symbol of anti-racism in the black community, and great players who would later be able to enter the NBA are also part of their team.
