ROUTE BY CAR. WINE TOURISM IN CATALONIA
When people think of a holiday in Catalonia, the beaches of the Costa Brava, the monuments of Gaudí, the cosmopolitan life of Barcelona, the beauty of the Pyrenees, the magic of Montserrat, come to mind, but they do not know about its great gastronomic wealth and Winery That’s why today we propose a route in a very special car, an wine tourism in Catalonia route
In fact, in this Mediterranean community a dozen denominations of origin meet. And in our wine tourism in Catalonia tour that we propose today, you will have the opportunity to discover four of them, among which is the Priorat, one of the most appreciated wines on the planet.
WINE TOURISM IN CATALONIA, DAY 1
Our wine route in Catalonia will take us five days in which we will visit some of the most interesting places in the south of this region. And we started our route in Vilafranca del Penedès, capital of the region and the D.O. Penedès, the largest in Catalonia. Its vineyards produce fruity white wines and red wines with character. The visit to the Wine Museum will provide us with all the necessary information and the possibility of tasting them.
In Vilafranca we can visit the Basilica of Santa Maria, a magnificent Gothic building from the 13th century and climb to the top of the belfry to bid farewell to the day with a glass of wine from the Penedès.
WINE TOURISM IN CATALONIA, DAY 2
If Vilafranca is the wine capital, Sant Sadurní d’Anoia is the wine cellar. The population and the surroundings concentrate a good part of the cava producing cellars of Catalonia. The visit of some of them becomes essential. Freixenet, Llopart and Agustí Torelló among many others, are a good option although the best, being a modernist building by Josep Puig i Cadafalch, is without a doubt Codorniu.
In Sant Sadurní we must visit the Interpretation Center of Cava located in an old factory of aguardiente. Close by you will be able to enter the exciting world of chocolate and enjoy a multisensory experience, unique and innovative.
