This post is also available in: Español
In this blog, one of the topics that we like to deal with the most is good eating. And, especially, we like to talk about places where you eat well. More than once we have talked about the Malaga Matiz Restaurant, one of our favorite places. For us, it is not only our favorite restaurant in Malaga, it is one of the best we know!
Located in the historic center, very close to the Cathedral and Marqués de Larios Street, Matiz Malaga Restaurant enjoys a privileged location. Marcos Granados is in charge of the kitchen, formed in La Cónsula and that has passed through restaurants such as Mugaritz, El Lago or Montana and that before landing at Matiz Restaurant, had its own restaurant in Malaga, Sarmiento. A very complete chef with intuition, technique and taste that, in addition, is a remarkable pastry chef. He is helped by Maître Cristina Socorro, who heads an exemplary room.
Malaga Matiz Restaurant, unique delicacies
The first quality jump of Matiz Restaurant we experience with the transformation of space. With a current, cosmopolitan and cozy decoration that harmonizes perfectly different environments integrating terrace, interior dining room and patio when the weather permits.
The following detail is found in the ability to know how to integrate the eclecticism demanded by a hotel restaurant menu, where we can find guests who simply want to snack with diners looking for a more restful dining experience, with current culinary trends and with a offer where the pantry and the traditional and local cookbook are skillfully represented.
It is achieved with a card that plays with time, with temperature, with textures and with traditional products and elaborations with new perspectives. In the menu there is a section for updated Malaga dishes, which can be enjoyed in a special tasting menu that we will talk about next.
A tasting menu of Malaga
Malaga Matiz Restaurant offers a very special tasting menu focused on traditional Malaga dishes cooked from the personal point of view of the chef. In this tasting menu of Malaga we start with the Russian salad Matiz with spider crab, pickled vegetables and salmon roe. We continue with an antequerana baton: croaker made with sea bass with quail egg and basil sprouts. We continue with a classic of the land, squid from Malaga stuffed with their legs and a reduced juice of their interiors with toasted bread. To move on to the meats with some Iberian-style Alozaina-style pork stews with cinnamon and cloves, l his “majao”, potato parmentier and goat cheese with a delicious vegetable fry and a spicy touch.
Finally, desserts, caramelized brioche, French toast, hazelnut foam, cinnamon ice cream and English cream. A delight.
If you want to enjoy this excellent tasting menu you just have to stop by the Matiz Restaurant of Malaga Centro.
